Desktop Create Award

Monday, September 20th, 2010

On Friday night J-Cookie and i headed in to the Desktop Create Awards and accepted the award for best website in 2010 for Jay Jays Dance Off 3D.

The 2010 Qantm Desktop CREATE:Awards celebrates Australia’s world-class creative industry, awarding exceptional talent over a vast array of creative fields.

Congratulations to everyone that worked on Jay Jays Dance Off 3D, it’s another significant nod to a great team effort. Now we’ve got our fingers crossed for the Mixx Awards in New York next week!

The evening’s host, Dave Callan, announced the project as “VisualJazzVaJayJays” which was quite funny.

A good night was had by all…. i think?

I enjoyed this exchange…

Matt: Interesting stuff…
To allow only the finest animals to breed on, while preserving adequate genetic diversity, it is recommended that only a small percentage of all male horses should remain stallions. Some sources place the percentage of stallions considered unacceptable breeding stock at about 90%,[6] while others would be more radical and state that only 0.5% should be bred.[7] In wild herds, the 10% ratio is largely maintained, though via a different mechanism, as a single stallion usually protects and breeds a herd of up to 10 or 12 mares, though may permit a less dominant junior stallion to live at the fringes of the herd.[8] There are more males than just herd stallions, but unattached male horses group together for protection in small all-male “bachelor herds,” where, in the absence of mares, they tend to behave much like geldings

me: everyone knows that.

Matt: heheh.
The bible says it is illegal to Geld horses according to the Bible!

me: the bible can get fucked. where’s the fun in that?
we should geld this shit out of way more stuff

Matt: fuck knows… and why would Jesus even be considering this?
definitely.

me: surely he’s busy
…or non-existent

Matt: I would have thought so!
“So Jesus, we’re having a trouble with famine….” – “Hold on! I’m contemplating whether to ban Gelding or not!”

Matt: check this:
Gelding horses is generally approved of as a way to allow more horses to live comfortably and safely in close proximity to humans and other horses, and as an ethical means of population control, even within the animal rights community. However, some individuals are concerned that the process may cause pain for the animal or somehow lessen their vitality or spirit.
NO SHIT!
reckon I would lose a bit of vitality and spirit were I to be gelded!

GMail iMap

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

EMAIL ON IPHONEGMail iMap is a god send. Now that i’m all emailed up with my new iPhone i needed to find a way to consolidate the 4GB of email sitting around on my work and home machines for 3 different email accounts and bring them together in a place that i can manage once and be reflected everywhere. After getting mail set up on the new phone i’m finding that i use my laptop at home MUCH less. It’s a pretty good interface and so much more socially acceptable to hold a phone up for a few seconds than have to lean over onto the laptop.

gmail logoAfter hunting around a bit i found that GMail had my solution.

I’ve added my 2 other accounts to be checked through GMail so all mail comes through that location. I am now in the process of transferring all that old mail from my local machines into GMail by just drag-and-dropping the folders full of mail into my Gmail iMap account in Apple Mail. It’s quite slow, but it’s getting there and a real relief to find such a seamless and simple solution that works perfectly. With the GMail storage limit sitting at around 6.6GB at the moment i reckon i’ll have all the space i need.

Now i just need to work out if/how i can send mail from different addresses with my iPhone.
