Last days

Monday, April 21st, 2008

This is my last week at Sputnik Agency after 6 and a half years. I had a bit of a get-together with a bunch of old & past Sputnik crew at Rob’s house on the weekend. It was a really magical day filled with great friends, perfect weather, delicious pizza, plentiful beer stocks and fun memories. A million thanks to Rob and Sarah for hosting it.

20 Years. 1 Goal.

Monday, April 21st, 2008

I enjoy Aussie rules football. I began playing it at the age of 8. I’m still playing it and although i had quite a few years off in the middle, this means i’ve been playing footy for a fair while. Some might say i’ve had a 20 year football career (others may say that using the term ‘career’ is laughable).

One of the basics of footy is kicking goals, it’s what you do to win games. You take marks, hand-pass and kick the footy to each other, and then you kick goals and stuff, that’s basically it, more goals = you win.

Cutting to the chase: I kicked my first goal on Saturday. Long time between drinks, but… BOOM!

1 goal

My next footy milestone before i ‘retire’: take a bounce.

GMail iMap

EMAIL ON IPHONEGMail iMap is a god send. Now that i’m all emailed up with my new iPhone i needed to find a way to consolidate the 4GB of email sitting around on my work and home machines for 3 different email accounts and bring them together in a place that i can manage once and be reflected everywhere. After getting mail set up on the new phone i’m finding that i use my laptop at home MUCH less. It’s a pretty good interface and so much more socially acceptable to hold a phone up for a few seconds than have to lean over onto the laptop.

I’ve added my 2 other accounts to be checked through GMail so all mail comes through that location. I am now in the process of transferring all that old mail from my local machines into GMail by just drag-and-dropping the folders full of mail into my Gmail iMap account in Apple Mail. It’s quite slow, but it’s getting there and a real relief to find such a seamless and simple solution that works perfectly. With the GMail storage limit sitting at around 6.6GB at the moment i reckon i’ll have all the space i need.

Now i just need to work out if/how i can send mail from different addresses with my iPhone.

sammi's iphone

Yeah. Sure. It’s cool.

I suppose it’s about as cool as i thought it would be.

I’d give it a 7.
