one of the best - January 26th, 2007
Australia day usually consists of heading to a mate’s place, watching the cricket, playing a bit of cricket, barbequed meats and plenty of beer. Aussies hangin’ with other aussies, embracing their aussieness and being as aussie as possible.
However this australia day we had a couple of visitors. Some outsiders that tried to husstle in on our Australiarality. But no matter how hard they tried, no matter how totally rockstar they were, they could not resist our efforts to aussie them into our utter aussieness and they were enjoying the age old festivities of driveway cricket with us by the end of the day.

This is some mates and me on australia day accompanied by Jeff Martin (of Tea Party fame) and Ritesh Das (from the Toronto Tabla Ensemble)
We had a heap of good food on the bbq and during the day Ritesh wowed the crowd with his underarm spin bownling in the driveway as Jeff donned the apron to cook us up some up delicious steak sauce in the kitchen and then had a bit of an afternoon nap on the couch in front of the Australia / England ODI on the TV. Thanks to Goughie And Em for providing the venue. Even if it wasn’t the National Park that we planned. At least i got to take rodney for a walk.
That night, after the gig we partied like it was 1999. With Ritesh kicking goughie off the drums so that he could show him up while Jeff sat in the corner and we all had an old fashioned sing along with such hits as ‘Stairway to heaven’ and Statos Rousos’ ‘Row’. Goes down as one of the best.

Well Sammi, I hereby launch the next Australia Day festivities… Maybe we can go to a national park near you? Followed by, of course – the Big Day Out…
Oh it will be nice to be out of Alice Springs.
