sammi’s new bike - November 15th, 2006
After the heinous stack, the results of which are detailed in (almost) too much detail in the previous post, my old bike of 10 years was in need of a bit of fix-a-mee-jigging. So i strolled into the local bike store where the guys are always incredibly helpful and friendly and booked in for a service.
While i was there i noticed a bike up on the wall. It was unlike anything i had seen, it was a mountain bike frame, but with disc brakes and road bike wheels. It was all matte black and looked totally badass. I enquired as to what the story was with the bike and it was explained to me that it was a Cannondale Bad Boy. They took both mountain bike wheels and road bike wheels and had a more mountain bike feel to their frames. I had recently been trialing road bikes as it cuts down on my cummute to work and back by 5 – 10 minutes each way, but i was yet to find a road bike that fitted my MTB sensibilities. This was the answer.
Today i am the proud owner of this new beast. I got the guys to throw in the parts and labour of my old bikes fix-a-mee-jigging and walked away with an old faithful mountain biking staple, and my new hotness, the Cannondale Bad Boy Disc. There is also an ‘Ultra’ version with comes with pin-lockable front suspension, but i felt as though this bike was primarily going to be a commuter and that perhaps the extra $600 was no warranted. Although it did sound like an awesome bike.
