chris pirillo is the most pathetic man in the world

Thursday, August 4th, 2005

chris pirilloSo i used to use windows and a PC and in the olden days there used to be this thing on the interweb called Lockergnome. It was a windows-centric site that used to send out an email about windows stuff and it was narrated by it’s founder Chris Pirillo. The rants that chris went on were mildly entertaining and it actually sounded like he was a young fella that was passionate about what he was learning and sharing all his knowledge with his legions of fans around the world. I really enjoyed it as did a few of my friends.

When i bought my first Mac, i quickly unsubscribed from Lockergnome as i was a convert and now associated myself with all things mac. With every day i began to hate windows more and more, OS X was the nail in the coffin, Windows officially sucked arse. Bye bye Lockergnome and all that other boring, nerdy Windows crap.

Of late, i have been getting into podcasts. I walk the dog each morning and listen to C4 & Kobar and The Daily Source Code, i ride to and from work and listen to This Week in Tech and Major Nelson’s Blogcast, i listen to a fair bit of Triple J’s stuff too among many others.

I have had heard a bit of buzz about this Dawn and Drew Show and they always seem to be up near the top of the podcast charts so i decided to download and listen to a couple of episodes. I’m sorry, but listening to a couple of whining, bicker adults isn’t much fun, sure, there’s some mildly amusing parts to it, but from what i heard, it’s just bogan drivel. But hey, it’s their thing and i know that every podcast isn’t for everyone. Good on them for creating original content and collecting a wide audience. More power to the podcasters.

OK, so Dawn and Drew isn’t for me, but i did happen to come across the fact that this little Lockergnome fella that i had read years ago was doing a podcast. Since i used to subscribe to the newsletter all that time ago it seems that Lockergnome had turned from one mans passion into a fully blown empire, so i decided to get his podcast to see what he had to say about the world. I have to say that what i heard was the most unimaginative, forced, childish, disgusting, filth i have ever had slither into and poison my ears. I listened to Chris and his girlfriend ‘Ponzi’ (who i might add was not the cause of my pain) bicker for a good 1/2 hour hoping that it might let up at some point and what i heard was Chris forcing Ponzi to be on this show which she obviously didn’t want to be on just so that he could force her into arguments and draw them out as long as possible. It seems that the purpose for this was to sound like his own little version of Dawn & Drew. I’m sorry Chris, the sound your voice is too pathetic, it sounds like poodles are crawling out of your mouth, miniature poodles with fingers that have fur made from velcro, and their velcro sticks onto peoples back and they start pinching you with their fingers making your angrier and angrier until you are forced to look for the most painful way to die and throw yourself into it, hoping that somehow you can die whilst you make the poodles feel as much pain as possible as they get dragged along (pinching you all the way). He really reminds me of an annoying person i once knew, which only makes it worse.

It’s like Pirillo has set out to leach an idea what works but replace what makes the idea original with his weasely self to try and take some ownership of the original idea. It is way out of character for him so it will never work and he will never achieve what he wants to, because he obviously doesn’t understand what it is that makes Dawn and Drew work.

It disgusts me that he even tries, but the more i think about it, he is a living Window operating system; constantly trying to steal an original idea from someone better but continually fucking it up until it’s just embarrassing. It’s so perfect.

How to build the best paper airplane in the world

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

“It glided like no paper airplane I have ever seen before, it was acting like a REAL airplane. It gently curved into the slight breeze and began to rise vertically without moving forward. The craft then began to lower as if it were a helicopter and gently came to rest on the asphalt below. ”
